No matter how lazy you are, you’re sure to look extremely productive compared to these “competitors.”
Seven competitors are hoping to get the coveted title of “Laziest Citizen” in a bizarre annual contest in the resort village of Brezna in northern Montenegro.
The previous record was 117 hours and was set in the competition held last year at Breezna Resort. This year’s competition began on Thursday, the 20th day. The participants have expressed their determination to continue the tradition of laziness.
The reigning champion of 2021, Dubrovka Aksik, said, ‘We all feel great. We have no health issues. We just need to lie down.’
The organizer of the competition and owner of the resort, Khatoon Radonia Blagoyuk, mentioned that this competition started 12 years ago in the small country by the Adriatic Sea to make fun of a famous legend where Montenegrins were depicted as lazy. She revealed that out of the initial 21 participants, the remaining seven are still lying down, totaling 463 hours.
The rules of the competition state that standing or sitting is considered a violation, and anyone doing so will be immediately disqualified. However, participants are allowed to visit the restroom every eight hours. They can also use mobile phones and laptops.
For the first time, a 23-year-old Filip Konizic from the Northern village of Mojkovac, participating in this competition, said, ‘I am confident in winning a prize of one thousand euros.
