Archbishop Ryan Jimenez, a native of the Philippines, was formally installed as the new shepherd of the Archdiocese of Agaña in a ceremony that took place‌ at the Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica in Hagåtña, Guam’s capital city. The event was marked with rich customs and traditions that are deeply rooted in the culture and history of Guam.

In his homily, Archbishop Jimenez spoke about embracing the path of synodality as he embarked on this new phase of his ministry. He emphasized the need for unity and collaboration within the church community to overcome challenges while also acknowledging God’s presence and grace along this journey.
Celebration with Distinguished Guests
The installation Mass was attended by numerous notable figures within the Catholic hierarchy, including Portuguese Cardinal Américo Aguiar and over a dozen bishops from various regions. In support of Archbishop Jimenez’s appointment, Cardinal Aguiar referred to him as “a blessing” to both Agaña and its people.
Appointment by Pope Francis
Pope Francis appointed 52-year-old Ryan Jeminez to lead Chalan Kanoa on Saipan since 2016 when Pope Francis named him archbishop. This makes him fourth bishop where more than 168000 people have strong faiths endure health problems for resignation.
