Archbishop Jimenez takes over from American Archbishop Michael Byrnes who retired due to health reasons in March 2023. Following this vacancy, Fr. Romeo Convocar served as apostolic administrator until Archbishop Jimenez’s appointment.
Born and raised in Dumaguete City with a background as a migrant worker in Commonwealth Northern Mariana Islands where he taught at Eskuelan San Francisco de Borja before entering seminary program at Diocese Chalan Kanoa in 1999. Subsequently ordained as priest on June 8th ,2003 , appointed apostolic administrator of Chalan Kanoa then subsequently named its second bishop right after that serving up til he got elected now .
