Kuwait U-20 Team Gears Up for Asian Cup Qualifiers Opener
The Kuwait Under-20 team is gearing up to kick off its 2025 Asian Cup qualifiers campaign with a match against Northern Mariana Islands on Saturday. The game will take place at Abdullah Al-Khalifa Stadium, located at Al-Yarmouk Club, with the match set to start at 8:30 pm. Preceding this game will be a clash between the UAE and Lebanon at 5:30 pm, as part of the Group 3 matches, which also features South Korea.
There are a total of 10 groups in these qualifiers. The top team from each group and the best five second-place teams will secure a spot in the tournament. Kuwait has been undergoing an extensive preparation program for this event. Throughout the summer, they participated in several friendly matches, starting with a camp in Kuwait before moving to Egypt. Additionally, they took part in the West Asian Championship and held external camps in Serbia and Turkey.
The technical staff, led by Croatian coach Dario Bacic and his assistant Mohammed Al-Fulaikawi have been working hard to ensure that all players are ready for a successful start to the tournament.
The squad for the event includes 23 players:
– Muqdad Safar
– Talal Al-Matroud
– Jassim Shamouh
– Hussein Kankouni
– Hussein Al-Aryan
– Abdullah Fares
– Abdullah Al-Ayoub
– Khaled Al-Kharqawi
…and more
Even though this will be Northern Mariana Islands’ debut in these qualifiers, Kuwait’s technical staff acknowledges that it won’t be an easy match. They are aiming to make a strong impression and secure a win which is crucial for their success in the qualifiers.
Coach Bacic and assistant Al-Fulaikawi are confident that they can select the best lineup from their talented pool of players.
