Nairobi, Kenya, Sept 15 – The MGallery Hotel Collection, which is part of French Accor Group, has expanded its footprint in Africa with the unveiling of the Gem Forest hotel, located in the city’s diplomatic neighbourhood of Gigiri.
The move is part of the group’s ambitious expansion strategy in East Africa, targeting the diplomatic market as a key clientele.
Mehdi Mora, MGallery’s Vice President of Operations for Africa, Mauritius, Reunion, and Seychelles, emphasised the importance of Nairobi in the group’s regional growth plans.
“Nairobi is a very important location for us. We believe in the dynamics of the region. We are looking forward to expanding our presence in other countries like Uganda,” he said.
Mehdi asserted that the Gem Forest Hotel stands out for its commitment to sustainability, with Mora highlighting its eco-friendly features.
The hotel boasts zero use of plastics and employs artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor and reduce its carbon footprint.
It has also earned certification as an eco-friendly building, aligning with the growing global trend towards sustainable hospitality.
The opening of Gem Forest marks the fourth MGallery hotel in sub-Saharan Africa and the first in the East African region and strengthens the presence of MGallery’s parent company, the Accor Group, in Kenya.
With this latest addition, Accor’s portfolio in Nairobi now includes five properties.
