Expanded Connectivity for Chisinau: 16 Direct Routes
The airline will resume flights from Chisinau to popular destinations like Berlin, Bologna, Brussels Charleroi, Dortmund, Memmingen, Paris Beauvais, and Verona. The newly added route to Nuremberg is part of the expanded service set to launch on December 16. In total, the 16 routes will cover nine countries, with existing flights continuing to cities such as Abu Dhabi, Budapest, Milan, Venice, Vienna, Rome, London Luton, and Warsaw.
Affordable Travel Options
Tickets are available now, with fares starting as low as €24.99. In total, over 400,000 seats will be available for passengers traveling to and from Chisinau in 2024, providing convenient options for those visiting family or enjoying a European city break.
Wizz Air’s Commitment to Moldova’s Growth
To support the reopening of its base in Chisinau, Wizz Air is deploying a new Airbus A320 aircraft at the airport. This move emphasizes the airline’s commitment to the Moldovan market and aligns with its long-term growth strategy to expand its fleet to 500 aircraft over the next eight years.
Boosting Local Economy and Capacity
Andras Rado, Head of Communications and Government Affairs at Wizz Air, highlighted the airline’s history in Moldova, noting that since its debut in 2013, nearly 4 million passengers have flown with Wizz Air from the country. “Resuming our base operations in Chisinau with 16 destinations underlines our growth vision. This expansion will add 91,000 seats, marking a 374% capacity increase for the winter season,” Rado stated. The reopening is expected to enhance Moldova’s connectivity and economic growth by creating new jobs and fostering travel links across Europe.
Local Leaders Welcome Wizz Air’s Return to Chisinau
The reopening of the base has been met with positive reactions from local authorities, who see it as a significant development for the region.
Pascaluta Mircea, State Secretary at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, emphasized that the new routes offer greater travel opportunities at competitive prices while strengthening Chisinau Airport’s position as a regional hub.
Sergiu Spoiala, General Director of Chisinau International Airport, echoed these sentiments, noting that the reopening will expand the airport’s network, create local jobs, and diversify aeronautical activities. “The reopening of the Wizz Air base is a crucial step in developing our airport and the surrounding area,” he said.
Eight New Destinations to Launch in December
The reintroduction of the Chisinau base comes with eight newly added routes starting from December 16. These new destinations will provide more travel options for passengers and increase the connectivity between Moldova and major European cities.
