Jordie Barrett was once again instrumental for Leinster as his Player of the Match performance helped Leinster edge out Connacht 20-12 in the Aviva Stadium.
He played a part in tries for both Andrew Osbourne and Charlie Tector as Leinster stormed out to a 17-0 lead.
However Connacht really put it up to Leinster in the second half and were very much the dominant side and their effort was rewarded with tries from Oisín Dowling and Shane Jennings as they clawed the score back to 17-12 heading into the final stages and they had a man advantage after Jimmy O’Brien received a yellow card.
Jordie Barrett was pivotal in making sure Leinster held on to the win, making a huge dump tackle as Connacht made a break down their right wing. That led to a Connacht knock-on and Leinster scrum just inside their own 22.
Barrett then led Leinster down the field into Connacht’s 22 where they won a penalty and Ross Byrne slotted the kick over with nearly the final kick of the game to give Leinster their tenth win in-a-row.
One of the major talking points coming out of the interpro was the refereeing from Chris Busby and his team, especially the use of the TMO.

Speaking after the match, Mack Hansen went on an expletive rant about how he felt Bundee Aki was on the receiving end of a dangerous clearout from Jordie Barrett. The incidnet happened in the first half as Aki was attempting to make a turnover it appeared that Barrett made contact with Aki’s head.

However Busby nor the TMO felt there was a need to review the hit, despite Bundee Aki spending considerable time down with the Connacht medics as they were checking if the Ireland star was fit to continue.
Hansen felt that Connacht didn’t get the rub of the green in the interpro and that Busby should’ve reviewed the collision.
That sentiment was very much felt by many online as many thought at the very least the collision should’ve been reviewed and Barrett should’ve received a card for the hit.
However former England International fly-half Andy Goode thought differently as he posted a video of the incident on Twitter and stated that he felt it was nothing more than a’ rugby incident.’

Goode was on the same page as Bernard Jackman and Jamie Heaslip who both felt that the collision was a rugby incident during the halftime analysis on RTÉ.
Jackman did feel that Busby failed to take control of the match, especially at ruck time which could’ve contributed to the high number of head collisions and multiple HIA’s. Connacht’s Josh Ioane was taken off in the first half with a suspected head injury just moments before the Aki incident.
The aftermath of all this will be interesting to follow, especially to see if Hansen receives any backlash or punishment for his comments.
