Home Oversight and Authorities Reform Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) issued subpoenas to the Division of Justice (DOJ) and plenty of high-profile former authorities officers, together with former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as his members press for probes into issues surrounding convicted intercourse offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The subpoenas come after members of a subcommittee final month voted on a bipartisan foundation to subpoena the DOJ for the “full, complete, unredacted Epstein Files” — with three Republicans becoming a member of the Democratic-led movement — and to subpoena the ten former U.S. officers, a Republican-led movement that was authorized by voice vote.
Per the principles of the committee, Comer was compelled to challenge the subpoenas, which relate to each to Epstein and the case of his affiliate, Ghislaine Maxwell.
In a letter to Lawyer Basic Pam Bondi, Comer directs the DOJ to ship the paperwork pursuant to the Epstein subpoena by Aug. 19.
“Whereas the Division undertakes efforts to uncover and publicly disclose extra data associated to Mr. Epstein and Ms. Maxwell’s instances, it’s crucial that Congress conduct oversight of the federal authorities’s enforcement of intercourse trafficking legal guidelines usually and particularly its dealing with of the investigation and prosecution of Mr. Epstein and Ms. Maxwell,” Comer wrote within the letter to Bondi.
