The Metropolitan Police have confiscated luxury vehicles valued at millions of pounds to address reckless driving in central London.
In a focused three-day initiative across Hyde Park, Kensington, and Chelsea, police seized 72 cars estimated at around £6 million, which included identical purple Lamborghinis.
Drivers received citations for various traffic violations, such as operating a vehicle without insurance, lacking a valid driving license, being disqualified, presenting false documents, and using counterfeit number plates.
Additionally, several stolen vehicles were recovered, and eight arrests were made for multiple offenses, including one individual wanted for actual bodily harm (ABH) and criminal damage.
In one case, officers stopped a car due to an issue with its insurance. Upon conducting routine checks, they gathered sufficient evidence to detain four individuals on immigration-related charges.
According to the police, uninsured driving frequently correlates with more extensive criminal activities, such as driving under the influence, using disqualified drivers, operating stolen vehicles, laundering money, trafficking drugs, and organized crime.
The seized luxury vehicles included Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Bentleys that were either not fit for road use or being driven in violation of the law.
Two uninsured purple Lamborghinis were also taken into custody after being flown into the UK for the owner’s summer vacation.
