Division of Justice removes Nevada from lists of sanctuary states

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Division of Justice eliminated Nevada from a listing of sanctuary states after the state agreed to “fully collaborate on immigration enforcement,” in line with a launch.

In August, the Division of Justice listed Nevada as a sanctuary state, stating it had “policies, laws, or regulations that impede enforcement of federal immigration laws.”

That listing was posted after President Donald Trump signed Govt Order 14287 a number of months earlier in April, which directed the Division of Justice (DOJ) to publish a listing of jurisdictions (states, counties, and cities) that it recognized as “sanctuary jurisdictions.”

On Friday, Sept. 26, the Division of Justice introduced a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nevada to “fully collaborate on immigration enforcement.”

An MOU is a proper doc between two or extra events that outlines phrases and intentions in an settlement towards a standard aim.

“Under the leadership of Governor [Joe] Lombardo, the State of Nevada is committed to addressing our nation’s immigration crisis, and in continuing to take steps to ensure Nevada does not offer sanctuary to illegal aliens,” the MOU learn partially.

The DOJ mentioned that the listing that originally included Nevada has now been up to date to take away the state following work between the division and the state. That is the primary removing from the listing because the listing was printed.
