A man has pleaded not guilty to allegations of assaulting a police officer during disturbances at protests in London.
Lewis Siverns, 33, residing on Farmer Way in Tipton, West Midlands, entered his plea regarding the alleged assault on emergency worker Pc Moroni Cesario in the Westminster area on September 13.
On that day, it is estimated that between 110,000 and 150,000 individuals attended the Unite the Kingdom rally led by activist Tommy Robinson, while approximately 5,000 participated in a counter-protest against racism.
Authorities reported multiple incidents of violent disorder, predominantly associated with the Unite the Kingdom gathering. Mr. Siverns appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
He has been granted bail and is scheduled to stand trial on March 31 at City of London Magistrates’ Court.
Additionally, seven other individuals face charges related to assault and public order offenses.
