David Carrick: Former Met Officer Receives Additional Life Sentence for Decades of Sexual Abuse

David Carrick, a convicted rapist and former Metropolitan Police officer, has been sentenced to an additional life term.

The 50-year-old was convicted on Wednesday for the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl in the 1980s, when he was just 14, and for raping a former partner two decades later.

He was already serving 36 life sentences, with a minimum of 32 years to be served, after admitting to 71 incidents of sexual violence spanning 17 years.

In a victim impact statement, the woman who was abused as a child expressed to the court that the trauma she experienced has “stayed with me into adulthood.”

Carrick was found guilty of five counts of indecent assault against the girl from April 1989 to August 1990.

Additionally, he was convicted of two counts of rape against another woman—one in 2019 and the other occurring between December 2014 and April 2016—as well as further charges of sexual assault and coercive and controlling behavior.

Prosecutor Tom Little KC stated that Carrick should be regarded as a juvenile for the offenses related to the girl.

He noted that any mitigating circumstances were “limited” and that the earliest possibility of parole is set for 2054, when Carrick will be 78 years old.

Judge Justice McGowan remarked, “The sentence I am imposing today will have little to no practical impact.”
