The bronze medalist of the Russian Championship 2025 in women’s singles figure skating, Alina Gorbachyova, shared how her coaching team reacted to her performance in the free skate, which included some mistakes, at the fifth stage of the Russian Grand Prix in Omsk. The athlete executed a clean quadruple Salchow but fell after attempting a combination of a triple Salchow and a double toe loop, and during another cascade of a triple Lutz and double toe loop, she touched the ice with her hand.
“I think I lacked a bit of focus; it takes a lot of concentration to land the quadruple jump. After that point, I started to feel anxious, even though I was calm going into the quadruple. We will work on staying relaxed in practice because triple jumps are something I’ve been doing for a long time, and it’s important to land them all, especially the doubles. Unfortunately, mistakes happen, but we learn from them and continue to improve.
The coaches were supportive; they noticed I was upset and cared about how I felt after the performance. They encouraged me and assured me I would succeed where it counts,” Gorbachyova told “Championat” correspondent Anastasia Matrosova.
