The most recent draft of the U.S. proposal aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine now incorporates the majority of Kyiv’s “essential priorities,” stated its negotiator on Sunday after several discussion rounds in Geneva.
The Ukrainian team faced the challenging mission of ensuring their national interests were reflected in the 28-point U.S. strategy, which initially aligned with several strict demands from Moscow.
“The updated version of the document, while still awaiting final approval, already encapsulates most of Ukraine’s crucial priorities,” said Rustem Umerov, the negotiator and the secretary of Ukraine’s security council.
“We are deeply thankful for the constructive collaboration with the United States and their careful consideration of our feedback, which facilitates progress in this collaborative effort,” he emphasized.
President Volodymyr Zelensky had also noted earlier that certain Ukrainian perspectives might be incorporated into the discussions.
“At present, there is a general consensus that the American proposals could comprise various components that are based on Ukrainian viewpoints and vital to our national interests,” he mentioned on his social media platform.
