On Sunday, officials from the U.S. and Ukraine commented that discussions held in Miami had been “productive and constructive,” although no significant progress was reported in the quest to resolve the ongoing conflict with Russia.
High-ranking representatives from Ukraine and Russia, along with European allies of Kyiv, have spent several days engaged in separate meetings facilitated by Steve Witkoff, the special envoy appointed by President Trump. These discussions are part of a diplomatic initiative that has been underway for several weeks, following the introduction of a 28-point proposal from the U.S. last month, which many perceived as aligning with the demands of the Kremlin.
The proposal has since been modified in collaboration with Ukraine and European nations, but its specific details remain undisclosed.
In social media updates, Witkoff and Ukraine’s lead negotiator Rustem Umerov indicated that the Ukrainian delegation had undertaken a number of discussions with American and European officials aimed at harmonizing positions on various documents, including a revised 20-point agenda, frameworks for security guarantees, and plans for economic recovery.
