Las Vegas – Retired NBA champion Lamar Odom checked into a rehabilitation center this week following his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence earlier this month.[1][2]

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers pulled Odom over on January 17 after clocking his SUV exceeding 100 mph on Interstate 15.[2] Officers detected a strong marijuana odor from the vehicle and observed bloodshot eyes on both Odom and his passenger. Odom first denied recent use but later admitted to smoking marijuana that day.
Field sobriety tests revealed signs of impairment, including balance problems and eyelid tremors. Authorities booked him on three charges: first-offense DUI, speeding more than 41 mph over the limit, and failure to maintain lane. The incident prompted Odom to reflect deeply on his habits.[2]
Proactive Step Toward Sobriety
Odom entered a 30-day program at iRely Recovery in Los Angeles, a facility offering holistic care including detox, therapy, and aftercare.[3] His manager, Gina Rodriguez, confirmed the decision stemmed from concerns over marijuana use potentially leading to harder substances. “Odom decided to seek treatment specifically for marijuana use out of concern it could lead to a relapse into harder, more dangerous drugs,” she told People.[3]
