Las Vegas – A quiet residential street in the west valley turned into a crime scene early Sunday when police discovered a woman dead from a gunshot wound and her boyfriend hospitalized after shooting himself. The incident unfolded around 3:15 a.m. in the 8900 block of West Via Vista Circle, near Spring Mountain Road and El Capitan Way.[1][2] Residents who once saw the couple as friendly now grapple with the shocking turn of events that has sparked a homicide investigation.
Police Respond to Panic Alarm
A security company alerted authorities to a panic alarm at the residence, prompting Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers to arrive swiftly. They attempted to contact the occupants but received no response. Officers then forced entry for a welfare check and found the grim scene in the master bedroom.[1]
The woman, believed to be in her mid-30s, suffered a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the location. Her boyfriend, 46-year-old Christopher Behar, lay nearby with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Paramedics rushed him to a hospital, where he received treatment for life-threatening injuries.[3] Authorities booked Behar in absentia at the Clark County Detention Center on an open murder charge.
