Henderson – A newly released 911 recording captures a man’s calm admission to murdering his girlfriend, moments after a violent confrontation in their shared condo.[1][2] The audio, obtained by 8 News Now, sheds light on the December 2025 tragedy that claimed the life of 26-year-old Kennedi Oriti.[3] Maurice Vanderhall, her 28-year-old boyfriend, now awaits sentencing following a guilty plea in the case.

Oriti had spent the afternoon packing up her belongings from the condo she shared with Vanderhall in the 200 block of West Horizon Ridge Parkway. A family friend assisted her in moving out, describing their relationship as cordial with no signs of prior violence.[2] She left the apartment with the friend but soon returned alone to ensure she had gathered everything and to say goodbye to Vanderhall.
That decision proved fatal. Police reports indicate Vanderhall stabbed Oriti at least 20 times, inflicting wounds to her face, neck, and body, including defensive injuries. Officers later found her body on the floor of the residence.[3]
Calm Words on a Chaotic 911 Line
Around 6:30 p.m. on December 2, 2025, Vanderhall dialed 911 from the apartment building’s clubhouse. His voice remained steady as he made his request to the dispatcher.[1]
