Las Vegas — Strong southwesterly winds began picking up across the valley on Tuesday morning, ushering in a day of sunny but blustery conditions.[1][2] AccuWeather reported current temperatures hovering around 73 degrees Fahrenheit with low humidity levels fueling concerns over blowing dust and elevated fire risks. A wind advisory remained in place through the evening, prompting warnings for residents and visitors alike.

Gusty Conditions Dominate Today’s Weather Picture

Early readings showed mostly cloudy skies giving way to clearer conditions as the sun rose at 6:00 a.m.[1] Winds from the south at 3 mph with gusts to 7 mph quickly intensified, reaching sustained speeds of 17 mph and gusts up to 40 mph by afternoon. Humidity dipped to 18 percent, creating ideal circumstances for dust storms and rapid fire spread if sparks ignited dry brush.

AccuWeather highlighted blowing dust in the forecast, advising caution for those with respiratory issues. Temperatures climbed toward a high near 87 degrees before dropping to a nighttime low around 57 degrees under clear to partly cloudy skies.[2] Visibility stayed at 10 miles, though gusts threatened to reduce it later. The combination of warmth, wind, and aridity marked a high fire threat for the day.
