Lancaster, California – A 911 caller’s desperate report of an armed robbery set off a chain of events that ended in a fierce gun battle between Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies and a suspect. The confrontation left one man dead and a deputy wounded, with the raw intensity captured on body-worn cameras and emergency dispatch audio. Authorities released the materials this week to provide transparency into the June 7 incident.[1][2]
The Robbery Report Sparks a Search
Deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station received the call at 7:07 p.m. on June 7. The victim described a male Hispanic adult in a black shirt and jeans who had robbed them at gunpoint in the 1200 block of Meadow View Circle. The assailant fled eastbound on foot after the victim fought back, striking the robber with what they called a sword in self-defense.[3][2]
The 911 audio captured the victim’s urgency. “There was a guy who just gun on me,” the caller explained. “I was walking home and the guy took my headphones, tried to pull a gun on me and then when I tried to take my headphones back and hit him with my sword to defend myself, he pulled like the gun out like he’s going to shoot me.”[3]
