Fans will plan months around a single concert, spend hours refreshing ticket pages, and send money to strangers online without a second thought if the right name is attached. That emotional investment is exactly what makes music fans a uniquely attractive target for scammers.
The scale of the problem is larger than most people realize. Scammers fleeced fans and industry professionals across the country out of roughly $13.4 million between January 2024 and September 2025 alone. These weren’t elaborate heists targeting corporations. Fake Concert Tickets Sold Through Social Media
This is the scam most fans think they’d never fall for. The reality is more unsettling. Reports of ticket scams grew 127 percent in 2024 according to the Federal Trade Commission, with roughly one in eight Americans who bought concert tickets online becoming a victim of some type of fraud in the last two years.
