NEW YORK (AP) — Like hundreds of actors, Tilly Norwood is on the lookout for a Hollywood agent.
However not like most younger performers aspiring to make it within the movie business, Tilly Norwood is a wholly synthetic intelligence-made character. Norwood, dubbed Hollywood’s first “AI actor,” is the product of an organization named Xicoia, which payments itself because the world’s first synthetic intelligence expertise studio.
Because the Dutch producer and comic Eline Van der Velden launched the digital character’s potential profession, Tilly Norwood has been all of the discuss in Hollywood.
However not in a great way. Guilds, actors and filmmakers have met the Xicoia product with an instantaneous wave of backlash, protesting that synthetic intelligence mustn’t have a starring position within the performing occupation. In a press release Tuesday, the Display Actors Guild stated that “creativity is, and should remain, human-centered.”
“To be clear, ‘Tilly Norwood’ is not an actor, it’s a character generated by a computer program that was trained on the work of countless professional performers — without permission or compensation,” the guild stated. “It has no life experience to draw from, no emotion and, from what we’ve seen, audiences aren’t interested in watching computer-generated content untethered from the human experience.”
