Workers on one of London’s Overground lines are set to initiate three days of strike action amid a dispute regarding pay.

Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT) plan to stage a 24-hour walkout on February 26, March 26, and April 23 on the Windrush line.

The union has stated that its members, employed in signaling and telecommunications, have been proposed a 1.5% salary increase, which they deem as “insulting.”

Cleshar, the contractor hiring signaling and telecommunications personnel for Transport for London (TfL), has been contacted for remarks on the situation. TfL has called for both parties to engage in discussions to resolve the conflict.

Eddie Dempsey, the RMT general secretary, remarked: “Our members feel disrespected by such a meager offer and feel they have no alternative but to proceed with strike action.”

A TfL representative noted: “We encourage RMT and Cleshar CS Ltd to collaborate in settling this pay and conditions dispute. We are currently evaluating the potential effects of the strike and are preparing strategies to minimize disruption for our passengers.”

In September, commuters experienced a five-day stoppage called by the RMT on the London Underground over similar pay and conditions issues.
