Las Vegas Strip — Workers installed the first pieces of structural steel this week at the Athletics’ $2 billion ballpark site on the former Tropicana property, a clear sign that the project has entered a visible new phase.[1] Crews also began assembling initial roof trusses on the ground, preparing for elevation in the coming months. The development underscores steady advancement toward an early 2028 opening for the 33,000-seat venue.[2]

A’s president Marc Badain highlighted the rapid pace during a recent update. “The bowl of steel on the third and fourth deck is now visible… You can see it over the fence line,” he said. “The workforce has done an amazing job. They feel really good about where they are.”[1]
The lower concourse deck has nearly formed a complete circle around the 9-acre footprint. Suite spaces started taking shape on the second deck level, while the second-level decking reached about 60 percent completion. Between 400 and 500 workers populated the site daily, contributing to more than 196,000 craft hours logged so far.[3]
Foundation work concluded earlier this year, with over 1,000 pilings driven into the ground. These efforts laid the groundwork for the current structural phase.[2]
