Joao Felix endured another night to forget during Barcelona’s 3-2 win over UD Barbastro in the Copa del Rey this past weekend.
The 24-year-old was unlucky to have a legitimate goal disallowed but apart from that, he did not make much of a contribution on the night. Beyond that, a mistake from him contributed towards a goal for Barbastro as well.
Abelardo Fernandez lashes out at Joao Felix
Speaking on Movistar (h/t SPORT) after the game, former Barcelona footballer Abelardo Fernandez criticised Joao Felix and his performance against Barbastro on Sunday night.
“The worst thing is not the mistakes João Félix makes, but the attitude he shows after the mistake,” said Abelardo, who spent eight years at Barcelona between 1994 and 2008.
“The standing still… it gives a bad image. You lose the ball, so go and get it, fight for it…,” he further added.
“He’s a bit mentally out of it,” he concluded.

After a bright start to life as a Barcelona player, Joao Felix’s form has tapered down in recent months. So much so that his place in the starting XI is no longer guaranteed, with Ferran Torres seemingly ahead in the pecking order.
Furthermore, there are doubts starting to creep in about signing the Portuguese forward permanently owing to his inconsistent performances.
