Aron Johannsson Talks to ASN About His U.S. Debut
Simply minutes after the USA defeated Bosnia, 4-3, in Sarajevo, ASN correspondent caught up with the Icelandic-American and talked about jitters, partnerships, and upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina—After making his debut in Wednesday’s 4-3 win over Bosnia, Aron Johannsson feels he “belongs” within the U.S. males’s nationwide staff, including that he hopes a partnership with Jozy Altidore will increase his case for subsequent month’s World Cup qualification roster.
Having been cleared to play for the U.S. by FIFA on Tuesday night after making the one-time affiliation change from Iceland, Johannsson was launched as a second-half substitute, displaying glimpses of his promise nearly instantly. He made good, darting runs and confirmed good tempo and wonderful method.
Plus, it should be mentioned, he seems to be hungry for objectives. He mentioned as a lot.
“It’s something I’ll never forget,” Johannsson informed ASN after the sport in Sarajevo. “I used to be anxious the entire sport, simply ready for my alternative and when it lastly got here I feel I did OK.
“Maybe I should have scored, and that’ll annoy me, but next time I’ll do better. I want to score lots of goals for this team and become an important player.”
